About the Authors


Montague Brown is Richard L. Bready Chair of Ethics, Economics, and the Common Good and also Chair of the Philosophy Department at Saint Anselm College. He is author of The One-Minute Philosopher,  Half Truths: What's Right (and What's Wrong) With the Cliché's You and I Live With, and most recently, The Restoration of Reason: The Eclipse and Recovery of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty.


Chris Tollefsen is a 1989 graduate of Saint Anselm College and currently teaches philosophy at the University of South Carolina.  In addition to various articles, he is the author of two forthcoming books, Biomedical Research and Beyond: Expanding the Ethics of Inquiry, and Embryo Ethics: Justice and Nascent Human Life, co-authored with Robert P. George.


Martha C. Beck has taught at Anoka-Ramsey Community College, the University of St. Thomas, the College of St. Catherine, and is Beck picturecurrently an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas.  She received her Ph. D. from Bryn Mawr College with a dissertation on Plato’s Phaedo.  She wrote this book during the winter of 2004 at the Institute for Ecumenical and Cultural Research, St. John’s University, Collegeville, Minnesota.


Gary Senecal
is a senior majoring in Liberal Studies in the Great Books at Saint Anselm College. He is from Charlton, Massachusetts
